Makeup tips fill the pages of fashion magazines, beauty blogs, and YouTube videos. Sometimes, most of this so-called "advice" is confusing, contradictory, completely impractical, or unnecessarily complicated, so I am going to simply share with you some of the DO's and DON'Ts of makeup.

DO:
- Apply your makeup to a clean, grease-less face as this would prevent the clogging of pores and minimize breakouts.
- Apply foundation before concealer (unless it is a colour corrector). Foundation covers a lot of problem areas and it acts as a blank canvas so you will be able to see any of the areas that need concealer.
- Blend your foundation down to your neck. You should blend your foundation downwards past the jawline to ensure your face and neck don't look like separate entities
- Clean your makeup brushes regularly. This is not only hygienic but also prevents you from applying previous makeup.
- Ensure your products are SPF friendly, UVA rays are responsible for premature aging. Protect your face with a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.
- Fill in your eyebrows to give it a fuller look by using a powder or gel which matches your brow hairs.

DO NOT:
- Overuse products on your face causing your makeup to look confused. Less is best!
- Use an oily concealer under the eye, as during the day it will gather in fine lines.
- Pump your mascara wand in and out to get more product, as this causes air to go inside and dry it out, and will fill it with bacteria. Swirl it around inside the tube to get more product.
- Use soap to clean your face. It strips the skin of the essential oils it needs causing it to overproduce oil which can cause more spots.
- Share products that can easily attract bacteria, e.g brushes, lipsticks etc. Use disposable items or let the person provide their own.
- Most importantly, NEVER sleep in your makeup, this causes breakouts and the clogging of pores. Your face needs to breathe.
